White House sources: Obama to nominate first Latino to second-term's cabinet

White Houses sources say President Obama will nominate the Justice Department's Thomas Perez to head the Labor Department, replacing outgoing Hilda Solis.

Perez will become the first Latino chosen for Obama'a second-term cabinet.

Perez currently serves as the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department, confirmed by a 77-22 vote after Republicans blocked his nomination over his record on immigration matters, and the fictional controversy over the administration's dismissal a New Black Panther Party case.
